Venita C. Lopez, 91, died Nov. 10, 2020 in Durant, Okla. She was born Sept. 15, 1929 in Blue, Okla., the daughter of George C. Cullum and Vallie Lee (Duncan) Cullum.
Venita graduated from Blue High School, class of 1947. Venita married Luis Lopez in June 1950 and they celebrated 46 years of marriage before Luis passed in 1996.
As part of a military family, Venita travelled extensively in Europe and the United States before the family retired to Mead, OK in 1977. Venita was an avid bowler, loved to garden, loved her dogs, and loved her family, her four grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Venita moved to Featherstone Assisted Living in 2017 and had to separate from her beloved dogs Queenie and General. The Texoma Paw Patrol Rescue found a loving home for both dogs, easing Venita’s transition.
Venita is survived by her son, Johnny and his wife, Sue of Springfield, Va.; daughter, Theresa Parent of Muskogee, Okla.; son, Luis A. Lopez of Abilene, Texas, and her sister, Mae Harrison of Bennington, Okla.
Family viewing will be at Brown’s Funeral Home in Durant from 6-7pm, Thursday, November 12. A graveside service will be held Friday, November 13 at 10 am at Highland Cemetery, Durant OK. Pastor Kerry Groce of Mead Baptist Church will officiate. Masks are requested for those choosing to attend.
