Vehicle going too fast hits the roof of church parsonage west of Broken Bow

McCURTAIN COUNTY – A Broken Bow woman was injured on Monday morning when she sent her vehicle onto the top of a church parsonage in McCurtain County.

Latosha Stevens, 33, of Broken Bow, was driving a 2010 Nissan Altima eastbound on Old Broken Bow Highway approximately two miles west of Broken Bow at about 8:41 a.m. on Monday, according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The vehicle departed roadway to the right, hit the stop sign, crossed the road, entered a church parking lot, reentered the roadway, striking a culvert, went airborne for 71 feet, striking the roof of the church. parsonage. The Altima then rolled ½ time, coming to rest on its roof.

Stevens was pinned for approximately 20 minutes, extricated by Broken Bow Fire Department, using Hurst Rescue Tool. She was then transported by Air Evac to OSHSNER LSU Health, in Shreveport, La., with head, trunk internal, trunk external injuries in stable condition.

The seatbelt was in use and the airbag deployed.

The report stated that the driver had an unknown medical condition and that the cause of the accident was excessive speed.

The OHP was assisted in the investigation by the by McCurtain County Sheriff’s Office, Broken Bow Fire Department and EMS.
