Turkey Chase 5K and Fun Run returns for its third installment on Thanksgiving

Release

DURANT – The third  annual Turkey Chase 5K and Fun Run unites the community on a day of thanksgiving for a fun way to fight the extra calories.

The Durant Trails and Open Space is putting on this event for all members of the community to enjoy. The race begins with a shot being fired and a turkey being chased by runners throughout the course. For an extra gobbling good time runners can put on all their turkey dressings.

The race is Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, 2019 at the Southeastern Oklahoma State University Crooked Smile Cross Country Course, 2408 N. First Ave. in Durant.

Runners can register at https://okc.enmotive.com/events/register/2019-dtos-turkey-chase-5k. Pre-registration is ONLINE ONLY. The 5K is $20, and the Fun Run is $15. Packet pickup is at 7 am. The 5K begins at 8 am. The Fun Run begins at 8:30 am. T-shirts are guaranteed to be available at packet pick-up for those registered by Nov. 8th. T-shirts are not guaranteed after this date.

The trail is a one-mile loop. The race will not be chip timed. The first 200 runners to cross the finish line will receive a medal. There will be a water stop on each loop and restrooms at the location. Remember, the race takes place on a trail, so expect uneven ground, mud and additional hazards. Be prepared and cautious but ready to have fun!
