DURANT – Southeastern Director of Athletics Keith Baxter has announced Alan Trayler has been named the new head coach of the storied Southeastern Oklahoma State University Baseball team.
He becomes just the third coach in the almost 30 years since SE joined the NCAA.
Trayler takes over for Zach Crabtree who guided the program for the past seven seasons.
“I’m so grateful for this opportunity to build upon the history and success of the Savage Storm baseball program,” Trayler said. “This is truly a dream job for me and my family, and I’m so thankful to President [Thomas] Newsom, Coach [Keith] Baxter, and the committee for believing in my vision to bring new energy to the Southeastern Baseball program. I’d also like to thank Coach Crabtree for his support, mentorship, and friendship the last seven years. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for Zach, and I am forever grateful to him and his family.”
“I look forward to working together with our administration, alumni, and all the Savage Storm Family. To bring championship caliber baseball to Southeastern Oklahoma State University.”
“Over the last seven years Coach Trayler has demonstrated a dedication to our student athletes and our program that gives us great confidence in the future of baseball at Southeastern,” Newsom said. “We had an incredibly high level of interest from many who wanted to be our next head baseball coach, and I know that Keith Baxter and our committee have chosen the right person to lead our program to future success.”
“I am looking forward to Coach Trayler leading our program,” Baxter said. “He has a passion for SE Baseball, a clear vision for the program, and an incredible work ethic. We had a very deep pool of applicants and Alan rose to the top. I want to thank our search committee for their work during this process.”
