Thural Lester Sorrell

Thural (T.L.) Sorrell Sr. a loving father and PePaw passed away Nov. 25, 2020 in Denison, Texas at the age of 83. T.L. was born to William Jessee and Octavia Madeen (Pruitt) Sorrell on Jan. 24, 1937 in Utica, Oklahoma.

T.L. dedicated his life to building a great foundation for his family. His entire life was spent driving behind a wheel, unless he was working on the family dairy farm with his father. He drove a milk truck, along with a seismograph dynamite truck, worked at Foster Mill Work, along with retiring in 1991 for Walton Transportation.

T.L.’s favorite job was working for the Colbert Public School district as the Transportation Director. His main passion was driving the bus for the kids, he passed his passion for driving a school bus down to two of his children.

In his spare time, he enjoyed going to Pine Creek Lake where he loved to fly fish, camp, and cook some of the best breakfast. He was a family man that enjoyed all things family, they meant the world to him. He was a collector of the HO train sets, and not only did he collect, he displayed the whole towns, mountains, and people. Whenever he was not busy working, he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and watching westerns.

T.L is survived by his son, Thural Sorrell II and wife Lynn of Colbert, Okla.; daughters: Anita Strange of Colbert, Okla., Tammy Bowler and husband Jimmy of Colbert, Okla.; brothers: William Samuel Sorrell and wife ImaJean, Kenneth Rauleighn Sorrell Sr. and wife Delores; seven grandchildren: Cody and Donna, Steven and Lindsey, Jessee, Danette and Michael, Tony and Regan, Stacy and Kayla: great-grandchildren: Anna, Addison, Tanner, Grace, Avrie, Ansley, and Hayden; step-granddaughters: Tonee, Geri and JoLynn; great-grandchildren: John, Taylor, Matthew, Lee, Beau, Devon, Kyle and Jared; numerous step-great-great grandchildren; special niece, Bonnie Gregory and husband Warren of Atoka, Okla., along with many other nieces and nephews.

T.L is preceded in death by his wife, Anna Lee Sorrell; parents, William Jessee and Octavia Madeen (Pruitt) Sorrell and brother, William Samuel Sorrell.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, Nov. 30, 2020 at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home with Roger Spears officiating. Burial will be at Garden of Memories in Colbert, Okla. with Thural Lester sorrel II, Cody Ray Brown, James Anthony Bowler, James Ray Bowler, Jessee David Bowler, and Steven Lee Sorrell serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers are Danette Lea Bowler, Kayla Michelle Strange, Stacy Darlene Sorrell.
