Thomas Glenn Pool

Thomas Glenn Pool, 71, of Kingston, Okla. passed away Thursday, May 6, 2021 at the Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas. He passed with his family by his side holding his hand. He was born on Dec. 3, 1949 in Redden, Okla. to the late Ervin Lee Pool and Jennylynn Littlejohn Pool.

Coach Pool was raised in Savanna where he graduated in 1968. He played football at Southeastern Oklahoma State University and later received his master’s degree in math and science. Coach Pool married Freda Leona Rhodes on Dec. 4, 1970 in Kenefic, Okla.

Coach Pool coached football in Ardmore, Sapulpa, Caddo, Kingston, Poteau, back to Kingston, Velma, Harrah, Broken Bow, Antlers and back to Kingston. He was affiliated with the Baptist faith and was a member of the Oklahoma Coaching Association, Oklahoma Coaches Hall of Fame, Men’s Golf Association at Chickasaw Point and he coached The Oil Bowl and two All-State Football games. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, mowing and loved coaching. 

He is survived by his wife, Freda Leona Pool of Kingston, Okla.; children, Vanita Glover of Ada, Okla. and Dusty Lynn Pool of Pottsboro, Texas; grandchildren: Lorin, Lara and Lana Glover; sister, Edna Huff of Heber Springs, Ark.; sisters-in-laws, Peggy Pool of Milfay, Okla. and Carolyn Pool, Rattan, Okla. and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Ervin Pool Jr., Hugh Neal Pool, William Paul Pool; and sister, Teresa Pleas.

A funeral service was held on  Saturday, May 15, 2021 at the Bulldog Henry Field in Kingston, Okla. with Phillip Stephens, Haskell Melton, James Dry Jr., Greg Gothard, James Miller officiating the service.  Interment at the Gethsemane Cemetery in Caddo, Oklahoma.

Casket Bearers: Dustin “Bucky” Rhodes, Robert “Bob” Pool, David Orr, Jon Hiatt, Joe Neighbors, Chris Gibbs, James Dry, Tommy Reeder, John Gilby, William “Billy” Scott. Honorary Bearers: All players, former coaches, Ricky Glenn Pool, Paul Glenn Pool, and Willis McWilliams.

Arrangements under the direction of Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla.
