BRYAN COUNTY – Nearly 30 local establishments who produce food or serve it directly were on display at the Choctaw Event Center on Saturday for the annual Taste of Durant.
Hundreds of people came out to get a taste of what they might receive from restaurants, eateries and more at the event which is hosted each year by Leadership Durant.
Krysten Brown and Taylor Remington are members of this year’s class of Leadership Durant and spoke about the work that went into the night.
“There are a lot of different restaurants from the community who have come out to showcase what they offer, whether it’s wine, desserts, and food of all different kinds,” Brown said. “They’re putting out their best ‘taste’ for everyone to try.”
With a Circus theme for this year, there was a ringmaster played by the Durant Chamber of Commerce’s Jeremy Spence, as well as stilt walkers, jugglers, an axe-throwing booth and many opportunities for photos. There was a variety of entertainment and a silent auction, with proceeds going to help offset expenses of Leadership Durant, as well as a local charity.
Leadership Durant is a year-long class put together by the Durant Area Chamber of Commerce and is for professionals who desire to learn more about their community and develop or further enhance their leadership skills.
