Sue Royce Burke, age 88 of Durant, Okla. passed away on February 6, 2022. She was born on August 20, 1933, in Marietta, Okla. to Floyd and Mary Mahanay. In 1947 she moved with her family to Bryan County.
She graduated from Durant High School and Southeastern Oklahoma State University with her bachelor’s degree in English. She married the love of her life Glen Burke in 1992 and was a dedicated homemaker to her family. She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Durant and a member and past president of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Mary Mahanay.
Loved ones left behind to cherish her memory are her husband Glen Burke of the home; daughter Cindy Carpenter Newell and husband Mike of Buena Vista, Colo.; son Don Carpenter, Jr. and wife Elizabeth of Ada, Okla.; five grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022, at Highland Cemetery Pavilion.
