Southeastern’s Keeton, Mitchell pick up All-American honors

DURANT – Honors continue to roll in for Southeastern’s Chase Keeton and Wesley Mitchell, as Keeton picks up a Second Team NCBWA All-American recognition while Wesley Mitchell picks up Third Team All-American honors.

Keeton, a senior from Waco, Texas, was a unanimous First Team All-GAC selection and earned a pair of all-region selections at the utility position. He piled on the hits to close out the season, pushing his batting average to .410 on the year which leads the league.

He also leads the league in slugging percentage at .819 and his 17 home runs ranks second in the GAC. Keeton has racked up 11 doubles and three triples while driving in 45 runs.

Mitchell, a senior from Katy, Texas, picked up two first team all-region honors in addition to being named the Great American Conference Player of the Year as well as a first team All-GAC selection.

He leads or is ranked in the top-10 in the GAC of nearly every major offensive stat category. He leads the conference in home runs with 21, and total bases with 151, and is ranked second in slugging percentage and third in RBI.

His 73 hits on the season rank fifth in the league, while his .386 batting average is sixth in the league as are his 15 doubles.
