India McMurray led the SE lineup over the two games with four hits in six at-bats and drove in four runs with two home runs. Emily Simmons had two hits in the pair of games, all home runs, and recorded five RBIs and a walk. SE totaled 14 hits in the two games, with five in game one and nine in the second contest.

GAME ONE: SE 4, OBU 2
Both starting pitchers delivered a scoreless first inning, and the Storm would open the scoring in the second to take a 1-0 lead. India McMurray led off the bottom half of the frame with a towering solo home run over the scoreboard in left field to put the blue and gold on the board first. SE added to its lead in the following frame to stretch its advantage over the Bison to 4-0.

Abrianna Kennedy and Sabetha Sands got the bottom of the third going with back-to-back singles to put two on, but the Storm were soon down to their final out after two straight flyouts. With two outs, Simmons stepped into the batter’s box and delivered a three-run home run to center field to make it a four-run game.

However, the Bison countered in the top of the fourth to cut the lead to two, 4-2, with a two-run homer for their second hit of the game. From there, Simmons held Oklahoma Baptist without a hit over the next three innings to improve to 10-6 in the circle with a 4-2 win. In 7.0 frames of work, Simmons allowed two runs on two hits and struck out three batters.

GAME TWO: SE 7, OBU 3
Southeastern used a quick start in game two to take a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Three walks were worked by the Storm during the inning, and a three-run blast by McMurray for her second homer of the day put the Storm ahead. The Bison were quick to reply with a two-run home run in the following inning to cut into the gap and later tied it 3-all with a run in the top of the third.

The Storm added to their score in the bottom of the third with another home run, this time from Simmons to plate two more runs and push SE back ahead 5-3. Southeastern’s edge soon grew to 6-3 in the fourth, as Iliana Olivares ripped an RBI single up the middle with two outs to score Sands. The blue and gold scored one more run to stretch its advantage to 7-3 in the bottom of the fifth with a single laced up the middle by Kennedy Morgan.

Alyson Malone, who came in for relief in the circle for starting pitcher Trinity Oden in the third, helped settle things down and quiet the Bison bats. Malone pitched the final 5.0 innings and allowed just one hit and zero runs while striking out three batters to pick up her second win of the season in the circle.

Southeastern (18-18, 10-9 GAC) will look to complete the sweep over Oklahoma Baptist tomorrow at 1 p.m. from the Southeastern Softball Field.
