DURANT – Southeastern Oklahoma State battled back-and-forth with No. 6 Central Oklahoma on Tuesday afternoon and earned a split with Bronchos, winning game two 5-2.

UCO got off to a quick start in game one to pave the way for a 5-0 win but was kept in check by starting pitcher Trinity Oden in game two, as the Savage Storm used early runs to grab a 5-2 victory.
Southeastern (16-18, 8-9 GAC) resumes GAC action on Friday and Saturday, as they get set to host Oklahoma Baptist.
GAME ONE: UCO 5, SE 0
Southeastern looked to take the lead in the bottom of the first with runners on first and second with one out, but the pair of runners would be stranded after back-to-back outs. In the top of the second, UCO broke things open, scoring three runs on one hit to take a 3-0 lead. The Bronchos added to their lead two innings later, scoring another pair of runs to stretch the edge to 5-0.
Susan Edwards led the Storm with two hits in the game, and the team finished with six total hits. Alyson Malone started in the circle and pitched 1.0 frames before Emily Simmons took over for the next 3.2 innings. Bailey Kite pitched the last 2.1 frames, allowing zero runs on two hits, and had one strikeout.
GAME TWO: SE 5, UCO 2
Trinity Oden was dialed in from the first pitch of the game as she faced the minimum through the first three frames and did not surrender a hit until the fourth frame. Behind Oden’s strong start, Southeastern took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first and scored another run in the second to jump ahead 3-0.
SE’s first two runs came in the first inning of the game, starting with a leadoff single by Sabetha Sands, who soon made it to third after a double by Iliana Olivares. A single by Laci Larsen brought in the first round before a hit through the right side by Edwards scored the next run. In the second frame, another hit by Olivares plated the third run of the game for the Storm.
After a quiet third inning, the SE bats made more noise in the fourth, scoring two more runs to stretch the gap to 5-0. A single followed by a stolen base from Serenity Oden had a runner in scoring position with no outs, and the blue and gold soon loaded the bases. Olivares tallied her third hit of the game on a single ripped down the left-field line to bring home two runs to make it 5-0.
The Bronchos continued to battle and put the Storm under some pressure in the top of the seventh, rattling off four hits for a pair of runs to cut the gap to 5-2. However, Oden locked in for the final out to secure a 5-2 win over No. 6 Central Oklahoma.
