Southeastern men pull away for road win at Ouachita

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.  – Brennen Burns led the way with 22 points and five assists to lift Southeastern to an 83-70 win over Ouachita Baptist on Saturday afternoon in Arkadelphia.

The win lifts the Savage Storm to 16-9 overall on the season and 13-7 in Great American Conference play.

Burns finished the contest with 22 points on 7-of-13 shooting with a pair of these while adding a 6-of-6 effort at the free throw line. He also added a game-high five assists.

Jett Sternberger added 16 points, while Kyle Leslie followed with 14 and RJ Weeks chipped in 11 points.

Kody Clouet and Robert Briley each added eight points in the effort.

Clouet put together a game-high 11 rebounds while Leslie added six boards.

Southeastern would edge out to an early 8-4 lead, but the Tigers would answer with a 10-2 run to take a four point lead with 12:44 to play in the half.

The Storm would find its own answer with a 9-2 run that was capped by a Burns layup to extend the lead to 23-18.

Another Burns bucket would eventually push the Storm lead to a first-half-high seven points, but OBU would close the gap and tie the game at 37-37 at the half.

SE opened on a 7-2 run in the second half to take a lead which would eventually stretch to 10 points on a pair of Weeks free throws to make the score 57-47 by the 14:00 mark.

The Storm lead would reach a high of 14 points on a Briley bucket with 3:26 to play in the contest, with OBU cutting the SE lead to nine points before a Burns free throw ended that rally and would help Southeaster push the final score out to 83-70.
