DURANT, Okla. – The Southeastern Oklahoma State University Department of Music hosted the university’s largest Band Day to date on Saturday, September 9, in conjunction with the Savage Storm’s football home opener against Henderson State.
The Spirit of Southeastern Marching Band welcomed over 500 students from local high schools to go through rehearsals during the day before rousing pre-game, in-game, and halftime performances during the football game.
“Many of these students were coming to our campus for the first time, which gives us the opportunity to introduce them to our students, faculty, and campus,” said Dr. Michael Scheuerman, chair of the Department of Music and Director of Bands. “I hope the visiting students had a great time, learned something new, and will consider becoming part of our Southeastern family in the future.”
Students came to Band Day from Antlers, Ardmore, Coalgate, Dickson, Durant, Hugo, Lone Grove, Pocola, Stigler, Valliant, Vian, and Wilson High Schools in Oklahoma, and Bells, Bonham, Callisburg, Honey Grove, Pottsboro, and S&S High Schools in Texas.
