Have you ever wanted to have your own glass slippers? You still have a chance to get your pair.
The Oklahoma Shakesperean Festival is holding a silent auction for a pair of “glass slippers” through the remainder of the 2017 season.
Jenna McWilliams, who plays the title role in the OSF presentation of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, encouraged people to come out to a performance and make a bid.
“There is a silent auction in the lobby as a way to help raise funds for the Oklahoma Shakesperean Festival, as well as a way to bring a little bit of our shows back home with you,” McWilliams said.
These are made just like the ones used in the performances, but are not the pair McWilliams uses.
“They are on standby in case something does happen to the ones I have on each night,” McWilliams said. “They’re still workable.
The glass slippers aren’t actually made of glass. They are plastic, but they have also been enhance. Jerrilyn Lanier and Colton Russell added more than 500 Swarovky crystals for all the shoes.
The winner likely will want to put the slippers on display, but McWilliams, likely channeling her character in the show, said she might take them out of the town.
“They are a dream come true. I would wear glass slippers down the street, if it were socially acceptable.”
The auction is going on through the final performance of Cinderella, which is Sunday at 2 p.m. in Montgomery Auditorium on Southeastern’s campus.
