The Patriot continues with the feature, #ShopCalera, highlighting businesses around the Calera area. With construction starting soon that will disrupt the normal flow of traffic through the area and have other challenging effects on the town, it is important to keep our local businesses and organizations at the forefront of our minds and support our towns and county during this time and beyond.

Today’s featured business: Los Arcos Mexican Restaurant. Jorge Venegas, whose family owns the business, spoke about coming to Calera.
“Everything started in Bokchito with a small restaurant there,” Venegas said. “And we had a lot of customers from Calera, so we decided to come here.”
He and his family built the establishment in which the restaurant is housed.
“We found this place about three years ago. We built (the building) and we’re still working on it, trying to make it bigger and better.
The restaurant employs 10 people and serves mainly Mexican food.
“It’s really our food – these are my mom’s recipes,” Venegas said.
Los Arcos is located at 306 E. Main St. in Calera.
“We invite everybody to come give us a try.”
