With construction starting soon that will disrupt the normal flow of traffic through the area and have other challenging effects on the town, it is important to keep our local businesses and organizations at the forefront of our minds and support our towns and county during this time and beyond.

Today’s featured business: Casteel’s Tire. We spoke with owner Billy Sprouse about the business, which has been in Calera for more than a decade.
“We’re finishing up our 12th year here,” Sprouse said. “We moved down here in 2006 and just opened our second location. We’ve still got the one in Durant on Main Street. But we were doing a whole lot more truck and trailer repairs that were harder to get into the store location in town with all the traffic on Main Street.
“This position down here and this location came open and we jumped on the opportunity to get a bigger area to service the bigger trucks and trailers.”
Sprouse said the Calera location of Casteel’s tires has seven employees and looks to provide service for everybody in the Calera area.
“Anything from a bicycle to a bulldozer. Tires, brakes, suspension, road service, oil changes – if we can’t fix it, I can tell you where to get it fixed.”
And he invited people to come to Calera to possibly avoid problems they might find a little north.
“People can just come on down and visit the ornery cat that we have – we have one in each location. We’ve got entertainment, we have a waiting room and we can provide some service that you need, and,” he said with a smile, “hopefully at a less-trafficked, more hassle-free area than going into the big city of Durant.”
