Shirley (Anderson) Driskill was born Monday, April 19, 1937 in Hugo, Okla., to Bradford Anderson and Margaret (Landrum) Anderson. She departed this life and entered into the presence of our Lord on Saturday, October 21, 2023 from her home.
Shirley was raised and graduated from Laton High School in Laton, Calif. Shirley moved to the Bennington area in 1989. She has worked at a turkey factory, as a nurse’s aid in Home Health for five years, and as a janitor at Bennington School from 1993-2006. Shirley had a very caring spirit and was passionate about taking care of patients. Many of the students at school called her Nana as she had a big influence on many of them.
Shirley and her husband Donald were beekeepers for many years. Shirley loved to crochet, making clothes for her children and many kids in the neighborhood. She was very spiritual, and enjoyed playing the piano and singing at church. Shirley attended the Midland Non-denominational Church located southeast of town. She will be greatly missed by her family.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald in 2003; grandson, Barry Young; a son-in-law, Charlie Young; two brothers, Travis and Andy; and two sisters, Liz and ‘Woody’.
She is survived by her daughters Alicia Young, Julie Houston and her husband Doug, Winona Weathers, and Anita Davis and her husband J.D.; 10 grandkids, 19 great-grandkids, and 3 great-great grandkids.
Funeral services for Shirley Driskill will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 27, 2023 at Brown’s Funeral Home chapel in Durant with Pastor Roger Speers officiating. Interment will follow in Bennington Cemetery with William Driskill, James Cook, Johnny Donald Davis, Michael Williams, Jonathan Parker, and Greg Jordan serving as pallbearers.
The family will greet folks one hour before the services at Brown’s Funeral Home.
