Sheila Lorraine (Marris) Johnson was born on December 23, 1955, raised in Bennington, Okla. and was called home to be with God on November 20, 2023, at the age of 67. Sheila was a homemaker most of her life and for a short time was a provider where she cared for the elderly, she always showed throughout her life how much she cared for others. She later on found a passion in creating handmade art through beadwork and different crafts that she also poured her love into.
Sheila loved her children, grandchildren and especially the Lord. She loved going to church and singing gospel songs and Choctaw hymns. She enjoyed getting to meet new people at the events she would attend to sell her work, especially at Tushkahomma Labor Day festival and the Choctaw Powwow, she greeted everyone with a smile and always treated them like family. Her favorite past-times were watching Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by Junior Lee Marris (father), Glassie Ruth (Sanders) Evans (mother), Herman Doc Evans (stepfather), Larry Marris (brother), Herbie Marris (brother), and Peaches Johnson (stepdaughter).
She leaves in God’s care her husband, Jarvis (JD) Johnson; brother, Rodney Evans, wife Debbie; children: Brad Scott, wife Arnita, Ranell Charpentier, husband David and Mike Scott, wife Felicia; stepchildren: Debbie Johnson, partner Bill, Jarvis Johnson, Jr. wife Patsy, and Travis Johnson; 23 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, family, friends, and loved ones.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Brown’s Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Jesse Pacheco officiating. Sheila will be laid to rest at Rosewood Cemetery in Achille with Ajavon Samuel, Jaylon Scott, Jordan Scott, Taylor Hadley, Thomas Hardy, Jamie Daney, Josh Daney, and Jaiden Scott serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Terrance Johnson, Bubba Cooper, and Terry Cole.
Family night will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, November 24, at Brown’s Funeral Home.
