DURANT – The Southeastern Savage Storm men’s basketball team learned on Sunday it has earned a spot in the NCAA Division II national tournament.
It will be the first trip to the NCAA tournament since 2006-2007 when the Storm made it to the Sweet Sixteen.
There will be a send-off party for the team on Thursday at 7:45 a.m. as it has heads up to Maryville, Mo. to play in the Central Regional. The public is invited to the Visual and Performing Arts Center parking lot to wish those who are going well and send them off in style.
Southeastern finished the regular season with a 22-7 record and second-place finish in the Great American Conference. The Savage Storm were runners-up in the GAC postseason tournament last weekend.
The City of Durant declared March 12, 2019 as “Savage Storm Men’s Basketball Day” in the city.
Southeastern is the No. 7 seed in the Central Region and will face No. 2 seed Northern State in the first round on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
