DURANT – Southeastern put up a season-high 35 points while the defense pitched its first shutout since 2024 as the Savage Storm ran away with a 35-0 win over Southern Nazarene on Saturday afternoon at Paul Laird Field at Spend Life Wisely Stadium.
The win moves SE to 3-1 on the season and in Great American Conference play with its next outing set for Oct. 3 at 2 p.m. back at Spend Life Wisely Stadium versus Arkansas Tech.
The Savage Storm offense put up 299 yards through the air and finished with 387 yards of total offense, while the defense capped the Crimson Storm at 279 for the entire contest.
Levay Duncan put up 256 yards of total offense on the afternoon, going 8-of-17 through the air for 226 yards and two scores while adding 30 yards on the ground.
Kameron Lockhart was SE’s number two rusher with 23 yards on three carries while adding 103 yards receiving and a score on two catches.
Jaylen Holloway added 19 yards and a rushing score.
Duncan led all passers in the game, but Luke Hohenberger added a 2-for-4 passing effort for 40 yards and Trip Baysinger completed 2-of-3 passes for 33 yards.
Sean Steens finished with his first 100-yard receiving effort of the season, putting up 106 yards and a TD on three catches.
Tony Hamilton led all tackler with 11 stops on the afternoon, adding half a tackle for loss and forced fumble.
Prince Dweh and Dylan Sebock added eight tackles each, with Sebock logging 1.5 tackles for loss, and a half sack.
Jacob Geddes turned in seven tackles and recorded 4.5 tackles for loss, two of them sacks.
SE finished the afternoon with 13 tackles for loss and six sacks.
De’Teaurean Johnson snagged an interception and returned it 85 yards for a score, while Trae Cuellar added an interception as well.
Johnson got the scoring moving in the first quarter as SNU burned over eight minutes off the clock on a 15-play drive before snagging an interception it his own 15 yard line and tacking it 85 yards to the house to take a 7-0 lead.
The Storm offense would finally find paydirt on its first drive of the second quarter, marching 75 yards on eight plays, including a 39 yard pass to Lockhart before Holloway scored from a yard out to push the lead to 14-0.
The Storm turned SNU over on downs on the ensuing drive it the SE five yard line and Southeastern would convert on its second third-down play of the drive when Duncan connected with Steens for a 78 yard touchdown and a 21-0 lead with 2:50 to go in the first half.
Southeastern would get moving again on its second possession of the second half, capping a four-play, 89 yard drive with a 69 yard touchdown reception by Lockhart to extend the lead to 28-0.
The Storm tacked on a final touchdown in the fourth quarter as Hohenberger rushed for a one-yard TD to push the lead to 35-0 with 7:42 to play.
The SE defense held SNU off the board over its two final drive to preserve the first shutout since Oct. 12, 2024 and the eighth versus GAC opponents.
