Scott Taylor, Sr.

Scott Albert Taylor, Sr. was born Dec. 1, 1931 in Duland, Okla. to John Hezekiah Taylor and Josephine Marie (Lemarie) Taylor.

Scott was a proud Veteran of the United States Army and was stationed in Fort Lawton, Wash. He was a longtime employee of Soper Public School and retired in 1991.

Scott loved being outdoors where he spent his spare time working on tractors. He also enjoyed ranching. Scott loved his horse and buggy and was a faithful rider in the annual July Soper Homecoming Parade. He dearly loved his grandchildren and his faithful dog “Roscoe”. Scott married his wife Linda Tom on Dec. 18, 1993.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Carolyn Sue (Wilson) Taylor on March 19, 1991; brothers, Eugene Taylor and Grady Taylor; sisters, Ellen Parsons, Louise McDaniel and Mildred Gault.

Scott is survived by his wife, Linda; sons, Scott Taylor Jr (Mary) of Hugo, Steve Taylor of Durant, and Sandy Taylor (Darla) of Soper; step-sons, Michael Grace (Liz) of Hugo, Stephen Grace (Cassie) of Soper, and James Grace (Crystal) of Broken Arrow, Okla.; sisters, Etta Victoria Smith of Buckeye, Ariz.; Georgia Fern Robinson (Jackie) of Arlington, Texas; 21 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and Emiley Grace Abbott, his very best friend in the whole wide world along with numerous other friends and family.

A graveside service was held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery on Saturday, May 9.

Arrangements were under the care of Miller and Miller Funeral Home.
