Scherlyn Faye Nicholas

Scherlyn Faye Nicholas of Durant, Okla. passed away at her home on Friday, July 5, 2019 at the age of 62. She was born on March 14, 1957 in Odessa, Texas.

Scherlyn graduated from Odessa Permian High School in 1976. In 1977, she moved from Odessa to Oklahoma where she has called home since then. She has been a longtime employee of the Choctaw Casino and Resort where she worked in food service and transportation. Her coworkers held a special place in her life and her heart.

On Halloween she would always make sure she had a teal pumpkin and treats for the children who have food allergies or intolerances. She was an avid cat lover and was very creative and original which made her great at telling jokes.

Preceding her in death is her father, Raymond Northcutt; husband, Tommy Nicholas, and brother-in-law Richard DeCaire.

Survivors include her sister, Ronda DeCaire; niece, Michelle Shearin and husband, Ricky and their children Jordan, Taylor, and Kyle; niece, Kathryn “Kat” Faye Voorhees and husband Benjamin and daughter Attisyn Knight; nephew Trevor DeCaire along with numerous cousins, friends, and coworkers.

Following Scherlyn’s wishes, her body was donated to science. A memorial is pending.
