Sandy Smith, a resident of Armstrong, Okla., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Dec. 24, 2020, in the comfort of her own home at the age of 71. Sandy was born to Julius Andrew and Ouita Elizabeth (Boyd) Wright on January 23, 1949 in Durant, Okla.
She married her high school sweetheart, the love of her life, Wayne Smith on June 23, 1967 in Armstrong, Okla.
Sandy was a lifetime resident of Kenefic and Armstrong, Okla. She was a faithful member of the Armstrong Baptist Church and a devoted preacher’s wife. Being a preacher’s wife was Sandy’s calling from God. She was one of the best. She was an amazing homemaker and remained in the home raising her children until they were older before starting her career.
She worked at Winn Dixie as a cake decorator and floral manager until the store closed. She then started with the opening of Wal-Mart as a deli associate where she recently retired. Sandy could sew anything and loved to decorate and create. Sandy was a delicious cook and enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. All she had to do is see something and she could go home and make it, or taste something and come home and bake it!
She supported mission work and loved gathering treasures and trinkets throughout the year to put together 100 Franklin Graham’s Samaritan Purse Shoeboxes every year. Sandy and her mother started this after a missionary had told them how excited those little ones were to get their shoebox. Sandy loved her church family and enjoyed attending WMU and singing hymns. Sandy was a member of the Daughter of the American Revolution (DAR).
Sandy is survived by her daughter, LaDawnya Wallace and husband Steve of Greenville, Texas, Dr. Cynthia Burleson and husband Gary of Armstrong, Okla.; grandchildren, Tabitha KayLyn Burleson of Stillwater, Okla., Brandon Wayne Burleson of Durant, Okla., William Andrew Wallace of Greenville, Texas, and Andrew Marcus-Wayne Burleson of Armstrong, Okla.; sister Glenda Rowland and husband James of Milburn, Okla. and many other precious family and friends.
Sandy is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Smith; daughter, Dana Lynn Smith; parents, Julius Andrew and Ouita Elizabeth (Boyd) Wright and brother, Wiley Andrew Wright.

Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020, at Armstrong Baptist Church in Armstrong, Okla. with Bro. Victor Cook and Bro. Earl White officiant. Pallbearers will be Tabitha, Brandon, and Andrew Burleson, William Andrew Wallace, Brad Rowland, Jeff Rowland, Steve Dollarhide, and Robert Rummel. Interment will be at Center Hill Cemetery in Kenefic, Okla.
Services are under the direction of Holmes-Coffey-Murray-Funeral Home in Durant, Okla.
