A life long resident of Bryan County, Sam graduated from Blue High School and attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University. He founded Blackburn Plumbing and continued working until he passed the family business on to his children. He was a life long coon hunter and fisherman. He deeply loved and adored his children, grandchildren and close friends.
Sam is survived by his children, Clint Blackburn and wife Lacy, Billy Blackburn and wife Natalie and Samantha Blackburn; grandchildren, Cooper, Audrey, Noah, Avery and Kase Blackburn; brothers, Joe Blackburn and wife Pat and JC Blackburn; sisters, Peggy Taylor and Nancy Blackburn and numerous extended family and dear friends.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bobbie Jean and brother, William Roscoe.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2018 at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel. Pastor Bill Ledbetter will officiate. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Cooper Blackburn, Kevin Blackburn, Jay Blackburn, Derek Proctor, Chad Covey, William Smith and Mark Proctor serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be BJ Mullens, Lathe Armstrong and Johnny Honeycutt. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m..
