Ruth was born Sunday, June 14, 1936 in Bokchito, Okla., to Iven Willard Turner and Ruthy Violet (Vinson) Turner. She passed from this life to her eternal home on Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2021 from her daughter’s home in Bennington.
Ruth lived in Bryan County most of her life and attended the Utica Schools. She worked as a homemaker, taking care of her family. Ruth always put her children first above herself. She helped raise some of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was always supportive of her children and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed reading, gardening and raising her children.
Ruth was preceded in death by her infant twins, (boy and girl), an infant son, a daughter, two sons, her parents, two brothers and a granddaughter.
She is survived by her son, John Brown of Mead, Okla.; daughters, Jane Pierce and husband, Albert Jr. of Durant, Okla., Mary Stoff and significant other, Lee Thomas, of Mead, Okla., and Doris Knight and husband, Odell of Bennington, Okla.; 32 grandchildren, 79 great-grandchildren and 53 great-great-grandchildren; two nieces of Grand Prairie, Texas, and a niece and nephew of Bryan County.
Funeral services to celebrate Ruth’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 17, in Brown’s Funeral Home chapel in Durant with Bro. Tommy Green officiating. Ms. Turner will be laid to rest in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, east of Armstrong.
Pallbearers will be Raymond Grounds, Micheal Stinson, Lil John Brown, Arty Page, Leon Green and Trevor Black. Honorary pallbearers will be Mason Grounds, Justin Hiberd, Josh Cross, Jessie Kinion and Jr. Pierce.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Sept. 16th, from 6-8 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Service in Durant.
