Roma Lou Jackson

Roma Lou (Gardner) Jackson was born on July 19, 1929 in Bennington, Oklahoma to Walter T. and Mary (Scott) Gardner. Roma Lou passed from this life on November 18, 2018 in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 89.

Roma Lou graduated from Bennington High School and later married Glen Melvin Jackson on June 4, 1947. They were blessed with 69 years of marriage until Glen’s passing on June 30, 2016. Roma Lou was a loving and dedicated wife and mother and deeply treasured her family. She was a member of Old Bennington Presbyterian Church and she enjoyed crocheting, quilting and sewing for all her family and friends.

Roma Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Melvin Jackson; parents, Walter and Mary Gardner; sisters, LeEtta Lloyd, Vivian Vaughn and Kathleen Orum and brothers, Roscoe, RC and WT Gardner.

Roma Lou is survived by her children, Connie Gaston and husband Junior, Johnny Jackson and Donna Hicks and husband Richard; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018 at Old Bennington Presbyterian Church. Reverend Wanda Johnson will officiate. Interment will follow in Old Church Cemetery with David Gardner, Billy Gardner, Harold Gardner, Jim Lloyd, Mark Boling and Anthony Lloyd serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Good Deal Thrift Store of Red River Special Olympics. The family wishes to thank Oakridge Nursing Center, Encompass Hospice and Dr. Mike Lee for the special care and love given to their mother.
