BOKCHITO – The Rock Creek Elementary School is the center of activity for those needing assistance following the events resulting from a deadly tornado on Tuesday night.
The staging area at the R.C. Elementary building in Blue is also where many people are meeting to bring food and other resources to donate to those who have suffered loss as a result of the storm.
As of this writing, the town of Bokchito and the surrounding area are still without power.
When that power is restored, the Rock Creek High School gymnasium will also be available to those who need to regroup.
Branson Duncan with the Bokchito Police Department said people have been coming in and out through the morning already.
“This has been a place to drop off water and other supplies,” Duncan said. “Things have been going out to those who need them just as fast as they have been coming in.”
Duncan said when the power is restored, the gym will be available for people to come in and shower and get cleaned up.
As of 1 p.m., 660 O.G.E. customers were without power in addition to 145 member-consumers of Southeastern Electric Cooperative power.
