Richard Louis Mazzone was born on Wednesday, June 19, 1974 to Richard Caldwell Mazzone and Sandra Faye (Smith) Mazzone. He passed from this life on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at the age of 47 years and 9 months.
Richie was raised in Durant and attended Durant schools. He graduated from Durant High School in 1992. He attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University and graduated from Ultrasound Diagnostic School of Dallas, where he received his registry in vascular and abdomen. He worked at Memorial County Hospital in Shelbyville, Tenn., Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas, and for the last 12 months was employed with Bryan County.
Richie was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Durant. Richard married the love of his life, LeighAnna Mimms on June 9, 2007 in Durant, and they welcomed their son, Richard Charles Kale, on May 8, 2008. Richie played football, baseball, and was part of the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. He enjoyed traveling, camping, cooking and spending time with family and friends. His ultimate joy was watching his son, Kale, play basketball and baseball. He loved his family and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Richie is survived by his wife, LeighAnna, and son, Kale, of the home; mother, Sandra Mazzone, of Durant; sister, Karen Boyer and husband, Rob, and nephew and niece, Blake and Kaylee, of Norman, OK; sister-in-law, Lynnsey Mimms and son, Kaydon, of Durant; aunt, Gayle Marty Mazzone of New Mexico; as well as other numerous relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 25, at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. John Breon officiating. Committal services will follow at Highland Cemetery pavilion with Rush Smith, Jeff Allen, DJ Johnson, Jerry Mowles, Jeremy Brewster and Chuck Howell serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Kale Mazzone, Kaydon Mimms, Blake Boyer and Rob Boyer.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 24, at Brown’s Funeral Home.
