Richard Dean Anderson

Richard Dean Anderson, the beloved husband of Opal and resident of Durant, Okla., left this life at his home on August 3, 2020 at the age of 74. He was born in Roberta, Okla., on October 20, 1945 to Leslie L. Anderson and Mabel (Richardson) Anderson. Richard married his sweetheart Opal Bessent in Durant on July 8, 1967.

Richard enjoyed going to the casino to try his luck. He like to watch TV but especially old westerns. Richard looked forward to traveling to LaFave, Nevada whenever he could, but he liked best of all was spending time with his friends.

Mr. Anderson is survived by his cherished wife Opal of the home; niece, Beverly Barton of Durant, Okla.; great-niece, Serena Foster of Little Elm, Texas; sister, Mary Ayers of Durant, Okla.; along with numerous nieces, and nephews, and survived by many special friends.

Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie L. Anderson and Mabel (Richardson) Anderson, five brothers and four sisters.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at the Highland Cemetery Pavilion in Durant, Okla., with friend, Larry Lowrance speaking and sharing stories.
