Rhonda Kelly (Layton) Barnes

Rhonda Kelly Layton, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, went home to be with her Savior on March 10, 2024, at the age of 69. Rhonda was born in Hughes Springs, Texas, to Lee Edward Layton and Dorothy Verlane Golliher Layton on September 6, 1954.

Rhonda graduated from Coleman High School and then earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She worked as a human resources manager at Medtronics in Jacksonville, Fla. Rhonda then became a repo analyst for Ally Financial until she retired.

Rhonda was a loyal employee and friend to everyone. She was a very hard worker but also very fun-loving. Rhonda was extremely giving of her time and was someone you could count on in your time of need. She never met a stranger and had a beautiful smile that caused everyone to fall in love with her. Her laughter was extremely infectious and loved to have a good time.

Rhonda’s greatest joy was spending time with family and loved ones, but especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was lovingly known as Mawmaw to all.

Rhonda is survived by her significant other, C.H. Alvarado, of Melissa, Texas; her cherished children, Edward Pullin, Newnan, Ga., Byron Pullin and wife Theresa, also of Newnan, Ga., Paula Sesler of Sherman, Texas, Farrah Mitchell and husband Buddy of Jacksonville, Fla.; seven wonderful grandchildren: Shawnace Grinstead, Hannah Pullin, Emily Sesler, Nic Grassi, Taylor Welborn, Caitlyn Harford, and Blake Bergeron and numerous great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. Rhonda is also survived by brother, Jess Rider; sisters, Robin Layton, and Tracy Madden; sister-in-law, Debbie Layton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Brown’s Funeral Service in Durant, Okla., with Bro. Randy Tadlock officiating. Her final resting place will be the Rose Hill Cemetery in Wapanucka, Okla.
