Rev. Billy J. Davenport was born on Jan. 22, 1938 in Soper, Okla., to parents James Washington and Dora Mae (Ashford) Davenport. Billy met his Lord and Savior on Jan. 27, 2021 in Durant, Okla., at the age of 83.

Billy met and married the love of his life, Juanita, on July 28, 1958, in Paris, Texas. They were united as one and enjoyed 60 years of marriage until Juanita’s passing on Oct. 20, 2018. Billy proudly served his country in the United States Army serving in the Korean War and was Honorably discharged July 10, 1958. He was an Assembly of God Pastor and dedicated his life serving the Lord and serving others. He was a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and he deeply loved God, family and church.

Billy is preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Davenport; parents, Jim and Dora Davenport; eight brothers and two sisters.

Billy is survived by his children, Nita Ford of Bokchito, Okla., Vicky Davenport of Bokchito, Okla. and Alan Davenport and wife Brenda of Bennington, Okla.; sister, Kitty Roark and husband Herschel of Shreveport, La.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one on the way and numerous extended family and friends.

Funeral services to honor the life of Rev. Billy J. Davenport will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, 2021, at Brown’s Funeral Service. Rev. Jimmy Davenport will officiate and Alan Roy Davenport will be singing.

Interment will follow in Soper Cemetery with Michael Black Jr., Donnie Minick, Geron Crowder, William Smith, Jesse Henk and Glen Hines serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m.

Arrangements are under the direction of Brown’s Durant Funeral and Cremation Service.
