Earl “Ray” Welborn, 88, passed away on Aug. 8, 2021. Ray was born on April 26, 1933 to Travis and Sadie Welborn in Pleasant Hill, Okla.
He attended Durant Public Schools. He enjoyed music, fishing, collecting pocketknives and harmonicas, old cars, and playing the banjo. Ray married Ola Welborn – Crites. He was a member of The Elks Lodge and attended Northside Assembly of God Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents Travis Lee Welborn and Sadie Kathrine (Hays) Welborn; his brothers, Emery Welborn and Duwayne Welborn, and his grandson, Joey McKinney.
Here to cherish his memories are his daughters: Sherry Cross and husband Harold, Connie Lockler, Cindy Maxwell and husband Brent, LeChel Welborn; his brother, Larry Welborn; Gary Welborn, sister, Saundra Mays; Joan Ashworth and husband Jim; brother, David Welborn and wife Angela; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. 
A Celebration of Ray’s Life is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 12, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Service of Durant. Services are under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service.
