Ralph Chalk, age 88 of McKinney, Texas and formerly of Durant, Oklahoma passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. Ralph was born on April 5, 1936, in Achille, Oklahoma to parents Russell and Ethel (Sparks) Chalk. Ralph graduated from Durant High School in 1954 and went to work in Alaska for a short time. When he returned to Durant, later married the love of his life, Mary Price, on July 1, 1959, and they began their lives together as one that lasted 65 years. They were also blessed with two children, Ricky and Tonja.
Ralph enjoyed being with his family and treasured the love and relationships he shared with all. He was an avid golfer and he and Mary devoted their time to the Church of Christ in Terrell, Texas.
Ralph is preceded in death by his parents Russell and Ethel Chalk; sister Phyllis Eggenberg and son in law Gary Shastid.
Ralph is survived by his beloved wife Mary Price Chalk; children Ricky Chalk and wife Kim of Celeste, Texas and Tonja Shastid of Allen, Texas; grandsons Cody Shastid of Allen, Texas and Chris Sherman and wife Amber of Celeste, Texas; sisters Irene Moore and her late husband B.J and Helen Gray and her late husband Willie both of Durant, Oklahoma; brother Mike Chalk and wife Marti of Dallas, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members he adored.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Brown’s Funeral Service in Durant, Oklahoma. Don Fentem will officiate. Interment with follow in Highland Cemetery with Cody Shastid, Mike Chalk, Ricky Chalk, Phillip Eggenberg, Mike Gray, Chris Sherman, and Jude Manaster serving as pallbearers.
Arrangements are under the direction of Brown’s Durant Funeral and Cremation Service.
