Quilt Fest 2023 set for July 14-15

DURANT – Quilt Fest 2023 is right around the corner, so make your plans now@ The Lulu & Hazel Quilt Shop in Durant is pleased to announce the upcoming event will be held Friday, July 14 through Saturday, July 15. For the second year, Friends of the Library will co-host another magnificent exhibit of quilts at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Center and Library at 1515 W. Main in Durant. The doors to the show will be open at 9 a.m. on Friday and the $5 entry fee will be good for both days of the event. Saturday ticket sales close at 2 p.m.

Again this year, Jim Cable will be there to sharpen your scissors and kitchen knives. Laura Syler, a locally recognized and nationally certified quilt appraiser will be on hand to assess the value of your special quilt. Our local Janome dealership will demonstrate their top of the line sewing and embroidery machines, for when you’re ready to take your sewing and quilting to the next level. There will be demos and talks on both days of the event. And of course, there will be fabric, quilting notions, gadgets, patterns and gifts for your shopping pleasure.

You won’t want to miss the Silver Threads and Golden Needles exhibit. It’s an “Invitational Only” display of quilts made by retired quilters of Bryan County and the greater Texhoma region who have lovingly passed on the tradition of quilting to many of us who will be exhibiting our own quilts at this show.

If you wish to enter a quilt, please contact the staff at The Lulu & Hazel Quilt Shop in Durant for details. Kids can enter their quilts as well. Again, mark you calendar for July 14-15 and bring the entire family. Quilt Fest 2023 will be the best ever and guaranteed to provide you with inspiration and a new appreciation for the wonderful art form.
