BRYAN COUNTY – On Wednesday, District Attorney Emily Redman formally filed four counts of Murder in the Second Degree on Bradley Shawn Pittman for the deaths of Fernando Flores, Kaleb Foster, Hunter Ford and Jack Sarver.

In a press conference, OHP Captain Scott Hampton said that midday Wednesday, the Plano Police Department took Pittman into custody and he has been placed in the Collin County Jail.

“Tomorrow, there will be an extradition hearing and the results of that will determine the steps as we move forward,” Hampton said.

“The investigators have put in literally hundreds of man hours since that evening (Monday), and their intensive investigations is what has led us to this point. We offer our deepest condolences to the families and this is a significant advancement in the case.”

Pittman is currently in Collin County because he had been in the hospital in Plano following the collision.

He had been driving without a valid driver’s license as it had been revoked, according to Hampton.

The initial charges were of Manslaughter, but as the investigation continued, those have upgraded to Murder in the Second Degree.

“Toxicology reports came back and showed that Pittman had been driving (with a blood alcohol content) at more than three times the legal limit at the time of the collision,” Hampton said. “The way a murder charge is achieved is that he was in the commission of a felony at the time of the collision. That is why the murder charge was filed.”

Each count is a crime that is punishable by imprisonment  for 10 years to life.

“This obviously is a tragedy for this community and we just want to really give an acknowledgement to the amount of work and time that was put into this by all the investigators,” Hampton said. “It was a team approach and it multiple agencies to get it done and that has led to the probable cause findings.”
