Phillip McClure

Phillip McClure, a veteran of the United States Army and resident of Durant, Okla., left this life suddenly in Denison, Texas on May 25, 2021 at the age of 50. He was born in Houston, Texas to Louis Albert McClure and Janella Britain (Wilson) on Aug. 16, 1970. Phillip married his beloved April White in Mead, Oklahoma on April 11, 2008.

Phillip was considered a “computer guy” he had extensive experience and always looked for ways to increase his knowledge. He served his country proudly in the United States Army and Army Reserves 1st CAV. Phillip had a curious mind and loved reading books and was a history buff. He could spin a good tale and sometimes made it last three hours. No one ever saw him without a toothpick in his mouth. His family said he was a “lazy procrastinator,” 100% American and 200% Texan. Phillip could bring calm to most situations and strived to be a peacekeeper. He was a family man, and he cherished his wife, children, the whole family, and his friends.

Mr. McClure is survived by his wife, April of the home; children, Glen Gayle and Lillian Gayle, P.J. and Emilee McClure, Gage and Wednesday Gayle, Clinton Don Gayle, and Emily Gayle all of Durant, Okla.; mom, Janella Britain and husband Richard of Caddo, Okla.; siblings: William McClure and wife Erin of Caddo, Okla., Robert Boggs and wife Karla of Tyler, Texas, Joseph E. McClure of Dallas, Texas, Ruby McClure of Dallas, Texas; grandson, John Gayle and one on the way, along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Mr. McClure was preceded in death by his siblings: Tommy McClure, Connie McClure, Terry McClure, Judy Tummy, and his real father.

Family hour will be from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, May 31 at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Okla. A celebration of his life will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Chapel with Tommy Green officiating.
