Penny Wingfield

Penny Starr Wingfield of Calera, Okla., passed from this life on November 4, 2022. She was born on April 2, 1951, in Chicago, Ill., to Martin and Laura (Adams) Korpi. Penny married her husband Dennis Wingfield on April 8, 1972, in Caddo, Okla. The two met in Louisiana and recently celebrated 50 years of marriage.

Penny honorably served her country in the U.S. Air Force. After that she worked at the Durant Daily Democrat for 12 years. From there Penny went to Choctaw Casino where she worked in marketing for more than 20 years. She was very crafty and creative. She loved sewing, knitting, and crocheting as well as baking.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis Wingfield of Calera, Okla.; her sons, Marcus Wingfield and wife Tiffany of Durant, Okla., and Kevin Wingfield and wife Aszra of Durant, Okla., and her special son, Billy Cannon of Torrance, Calif.; mother, Laura “Betty” Korpi; sister, Sue Messina and husband Mike of Duncan, Okla.; brother, Andrew “Andy” Korpi and wife Jenny of Marquette, Mich.; grandchildren: Leslie Wingfield of Durant, Okla., Johnathon Wingfield of Calera, Okla., Shanequa Neal and Serena Neal of Durant, Okla., Zara Wingfield, Zeppelin Wingfield and Zella Wingfield of Durant, Okla., and great-grandson, Anthony Neal.

Special acknowledgement to her in-laws: Randy and Paula Wingfield, Mike and Vangie Wingfield, Gary and Mary Wingfield and Rick and Pam Wingfield for all their love and support.

Preceding Penny in death is her father, Martin Korpi.

Family Hour is set for 7-8 p.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home. Funeral Service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, November 11, 2022, at the First Baptist Church of Caddo in Caddo, Okla., with Reverend Mike Wingfield officiating. Penny will be laid to rest in Gethsemane Cemetery following the funeral service.

Those serving as pallbearers are Michael Wingfield, Joe Wingfield, Josh Wingfield, Ryan Wingfield, Billy Cannon, and Johnathon Wingfield.

Services are under the direction of Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home, 121 N. Fifth Ave. in Durant, Okla.
