Paul D. Stanford, a long-time resident of Durant, Okla., passed away peacefully at home on June 28, 2024, at the age of 91. He was born on May 31, 1933, in Trementina, N.M., to O.W. and Sarah Pearl (Morrison) Stanford. His life was a testament to the values of hard work, dedication, and the importance of family.
Although a concrete contractor by trade, Paul’s passions extended beyond his work. He was an avid fan of rodeo, ranching, gardening, and fishing. He found the greatest pleasure in watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren play sports.
He is survived by a loving family that includes his son, Bill Stanford and wife Angel of Durant, Okla.; daughter, Brenda Erwin of Durant, Okla.; son, Rick Steward and wife JoAnn of Albany, Okla., his adoring grandchildren including: Shuna McCarter, Michael Stanford and his wife Natalie, Donald Stanford and wife Kayla, Joey Allen and wife Rayven, Dusty Gammon, Kassy Gammon, Brandi Gibby and husband Chad, Jessica Steward, and Micha Jackson, as well as his 16 great-grandchildren and his one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by his sisters, Betty Taylor and husband Ed of Pampa, Texas, and Josephine Phillips of Belle Vista, Ark.
Preceding him in death are his parents, O.W. and Pearl Stanford, and Carlos Lopez; his beloved late wives, Louise and Gwen Stanford; and his sister Mary Snyder; brother, Charlie Stanford; and his children, Linda Jackson and Mike Steward.
Family and friends will gather at his Family Hour on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, from 6-8 p.m., at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Albany Cemetery with Brother Jackie Robinson officiating.
Services are under the direction of Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home, 121 N. Fifth Ave. in Durant.
