The Durant Education and Service Sorority is looking forward to their largest fundraising effort, the Annual Parade of Homes! The Parade of Homes will take place on Sunday, Dec. 8. Homes on the tour will be open for viewing from 1-5 p.m. In conjunction with the Parade of Homes, there will be a gift show at Opera House Coffee, located at 200 Evergreen Street, from 12-5 p.m., with more than a dozen booths featuring beauty products, jewelry, clothing, and more!
Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. They can be purchased from any DESS member, as well as at Bliss Boutique, Marie’s, The Medicine Store, Hot Shots, and Kopper Kettle. Money raised from the parade will go directly back into Bryan County, with a Southeastern scholarship, donations to Durant I.S.D., J127 Ministry, the Pregnancy Center of Bryan County, the Oklahoma Shakespearean Festival, as well as several other local philanthropies.
The second home to be featured on the tour is located at 912 W. Elm in Durant. Justin and Kathryn Jernigan are the owners of the home, which was purchased in October 2016. Justin manages the Choctaw Wellness Center in Durant, and Kathryn works as a risk analyst for the Choctaw Nation.
The charming cottage home was built in 1932. It is approximately 1,200 square feet, with two bedrooms and one bathroom. The home features stylish built-in shelving, as well as built-in window seating in the dining room. This quaint home will be a great addition to the Parade of Homes.
