BRYAN COUNTY – Following a hiatus from a year ago, the Veterans Day parade will once again be held in Durant.
The parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday morning and travel eastward down Main Street. The theme for the 2021 parade is “Investing in the next generation of veterans.”
A ceremony will take place immediately following the parade at the VFW, located at 123 S. Second Ave.
There will also be an Honor Ride, in which stops will be made at all Durant retirement homes to present each veteran with an appreciation certificate. The Ride will begin at the Durant Police Station.
The Choctaw Casino & Resort-Durant is also showing appreciation for all active and former military by offering a $10 free play credit and a complimentary buffet at Butterfield’s Buffet. The special is available from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Veterans Day. Visit any Choctaw Casino Rewards Club to receive the offer with a valid Military ID.
All Choctaw Travel Plazas and Country Markets are showing their appreciation for active and former military by offering a variety of breakfast choices at no charge. Each choice will include a small coffee (16oz) paired with the option of either a sausage biscuit, biscuit and gravy, or bacon biscuit. The special is available from 7-10 a.m.
