Otis Wayne Gaines, 88, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 16, 2023, in Hugo, Okla. He was born September 27, 1934, in Phillipsburg, Kan., to Wayne and Mary Caroline (Coffin) Gaines.
He married Berta Lee Holiday on August 12, 1955, in Oberlin, Kan. They were blessed with two children and many years together. Otis served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was proud to be a veteran. During his free time, Otis liked wood working and tinkering with things in his garage. He truly enjoyed going to garage sales and estate sales, and could always find a bargain. Above all else, Otis was a Christian man who loved the Lord and his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Otis is preceded in death by his wife: Berta Lee Gaines; father: Wayne Gaines; mother: Mary Caroline Gaines; sister: Donna Stephenson; and family dog: Baby Girl.
He leaves behind his son: Scott Gaines and wife Candice of Knoxville, Tenn.; daughter: Sandra Gaines of Oklahoma City, Okla.; grandchildren: Aaron Gaines and wife Marissa of Princeton, Texas and Landry Gaines of Knoxville, Tenn.; great grandchild: Aralee Gaines of Princeton, Texas; and his family dogs: Bella and Sir; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Services for Otis will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Serenity Funeral Service with Reverend Aaron Reed officiating. Interment to follow at Antlers City Cemetery.
