BRYAN COUNTY – A juvenile was taken to a local hospital following a two-vehicle accident 2 miles east of Bennington on Tuesday afternoon.
Just before 5 p.m., a 17-year-old boy from Bennington, whose name has not yet been released, was driving a 2005 Ford pickup south on Chubby Lane and came to a stop at U.S. Highway 70, according to a report by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
He then pulled onto Highway 70, in the path of a 2015 Ford car, driven by Catherine DeCaire, 33 of Durant, who was driving west on 70.
The 17-year-old boy was transported by private vehicle to Alliance Health in Durant, where he was treated and released.
A 10-year-old girl was a passenger in the car and was transported to Alliance Health in Durant. She was admitted in stable condition with injuries to head and trunk.
Seatbelts were in use by all. The cause of the collision was failure to yield from a stop sign, according to the report.
The OHP was assisted in the investigation by the Bennington Police Department, Bokchito Police Department, Bennington Fire Department, and Bryan County Sheriff’s Office.
