The Oklahoma Shakespearean Festival will be hosting COMMUNITY AUDITIONS for their 2019 production of NEWSIES on Saturday, May 4. The auditions will take place in the Visual and Performing Arts Center located at 1614 North First Ave. in Durant.
Any person auditioning must be available for rehearsals beginning Sunday, 23 June through Sunday, 14 July. We will not rehearse on July 4. Those cast in the production must be available from 8 a.m.-10:30p.m., 7-days a week with absolutely no exceptions except for rehearsals and performances of other productions in the current OSF season (Peter Pan or James and the Giant Peach). Periodic rehearsals may begin as early as June 3, so please know your schedule for the date ranges before you arrive at auditions.
It is important to remember that Newsies is a production done with the professional arm of the Oklahoma Shakespearean Festival. Those cast in the production are not guaranteed any kind of speaking or singing line. As with any audition, parents need to research the play before making a commitment. This production has a PG rating. There is mild language, violence and mature themes.
