ODVA to conduct transport and burial for five unaccompanied veterans

ARDMORE, Okla. — The Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs (ODVA) Cemetery Division will receive the remains of five unaccompanied veterans during a Dignified Transport on Thursday, June 26, 2025. The event is part of the FOUND Project (Find Oklahoma’s Unclaimed National Defenders), a program to locate and inter veterans not claimed by family or representatives.
The remains will be escorted by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Oklahoma Patriot Guard Riders, CW4 Randy Growall, USA Retired; CW3 Clinton Holt, USA Retired; and Jamee Smith, State Veterans Cemetery Administrator. The remains will be transported to Seaman First Class Billy Turner Veterans Cemetery in Ardmore. A committal service with military honors will follow.
Representative Tammy Townley will receive the ceremonial flag on behalf of the unaccompanied veterans.
The FOUND Project is a joint effort between ODVA and funeral homes to identify cremated remains of veterans. Once service is verified, ODVA arranges burial through state veteran cemeteries.
The public and media are invited to attend the service at 12:30 p.m. on June 26, 2025, at Seaman First Class Billy Turner Veterans Cemetery, loacted at 1555 Myall Street in Ardmore..
