Todd McDaniel

Todd McDaniel, 54, of Durant passed away on Sept. 6, 2018 after a brave and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on April 16, 1964 to Marvin Jr. and Dorothy (Boaen) McDaniel.

Todd was raised in Durant and graduated from Durant Public Schools. He married Carol Shippman on June 15, 1985 and they were blessed with three beautiful girls. Todd worked in retail sales for many years starting with TG&Y in 1981. He spent 26 years at Sears before joining the Lowe’s team in 2016. He also served as a Durant police officer for two years. In his free time, he loved spending time with his daughters, working on cars and collecting guns.

Todd was preceded in death by is father, Marvin McDaniel Jr. and his grandparents.

Todd is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Carol McDaniel of the home; beloved daughters, Megan Dickson and husband Ryan of Denison, Texas, Erin McDaniel and Lesley McDaniel both of Durant; grandson, Myles Dickson; mother, Dorothy McDaniel of Durant; brother, Alan McDaniel and wife Cindy of Durant; father and mother in law, Ziggy and Carolyn Shippman of Durant; brother in law, John Shippman and wife Susan of Oklahoma City, Okla.; nephews, Zakary McDaniel and Jeffrey Shippman; nieces, Breanna (Shippman) Roach and Madesen (Shippman) McBride, along with numerous extended family and friends.

A celebration of Todd’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 14, 2018 at First Baptist Church Durant. The family will receive friends following the service in the Student Worship Center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Colon Cancer Coalition at coloncancercoalition.org, the Under His Wings ministry through First Baptist Church, or a charity of your choice.
