Joyce Lavan (Stubblefield) Milner of Mead, Okla. passed away Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018 at her home surrounded by family at the age of 62. She was born on Aug. 22, 1956 in Denison, Texas to Henry VanBuren Stubblefield and Joyce Lorean (Simpson) Stubblefield.
Joyce was known to her family and friends as “Vandy”. She graduated from Denison High School and later furthered her education at the Kiamichi Vocational Technology Center in Durant. She was a Denison resident most of her life and relocated to Bryan County in 1992. She later met and married Terry Milner, and they spent 16 wonderful years together.
Vandy was a Certified Nursing Assistant for some time then worked in the restaurant industry. She became an ordained minister and enjoyed doing weddings. Her hobbies included fishing, doing crafts, sewing, and singing karaoke.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Justin Van Stubblefield.
Survivors include her loving husband of the home, Terry Milner; son, Heath Oliver and wife Julia of Durant, Okla.; daughter, Amanda Lackey and husband David of Durant; six grandchildren and other extended family members and dear friends.
Services for Joyce will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018 at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel in Durant with Rev. Joe Beshirs officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera with Heath Oliver, James Lackey, Gary Lackey, Ronnie Lackey, Robert Smith, and Stephen Oliver serving as pallbearers. The family will accept friends Monday, Oct. 1, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
