Euna Faye Short

Euna Faye (Brown) Short was born on Dec. 14, 1939 in Calera, Okla. to David Crockett and Eunice Jane (Wiggins) Brown. God called Faye Home on Sept. 10, 2018 in Colbert, Okla. at the age of 78. She entered the Gates of Heaven to join her Lord Jesus Christ and her family who passed before.

Faye has been a life-long resident of Calera and Bryan County. She was a dedicated homemaker to her family and worked at Calera Public Schools and at Calera Manor Nursing Home for many years. She married Roy Short in 1994 and he passed before her in January 1996.

She was loyal and dedicated member of the New Life Assembly of God Church in Calera and faithfully attended until her health prevented her. She wrote a weekly article in the Durant Democrat “People You Know” for more than 20 years. She enjoyed embroidering, crafts, reading and watching old westerns. Faye loved her Lord Jesus Christ and treasured and adored her family and friends.

Faye was preceded in death by parents; son, Dewayne Toombs; brother, Wendell Brown and husband Roy Short.

Her loving family left behind to cherish her memory are her children, David E. Toombs and wife Becky of Achille, Okla., Danny Toombs and wife April of Calera, and Debra Crawford and husband Lonnie of Colbert; grandchildren, Beverly Rucker and husband Donnie, Angela Posey and husband Robby, Eric Toombs, Kaileigh Toombs, Preston Toombs, Jessica Toombs, Alex Crawford, Austin Crawford and Amy Quarles and husband Aaron; great grandchildren, Jordan Rucker, Elijah Rucker, Brenton Rucker, Bethany Hammond, Riley Posey, Mikayla Posey and Brooklyn Sloan; three great great grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends.

Funeral services to celebrate Faye’s life will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, 2018 at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel. Bro. David Sanders will officiate. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery with grandsons, Jordan Rucker, Elijah Rucker, Brenton Rucker, Robby Posey, Donnie Rucker and Alex Crawford serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, Eric Toombs, Austin Crawford and Preston Toombs. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Thursday Evening from 6-8 p.m..
