Edgar Enrique Martinez Serrato, a resident of Durant, Okla., passed from this life on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018 at the age of 59. He was born in Bogota, Colombia on April 12, 1959 to Jorge Martinez and Flora Serrato de Martinez. Enrique married his beloved Brigitt Cardenas Parraga in Colombia on April 8, 1988.
Mr. Martinez is survived by his wife Brigitt Cardenas; daughter, Tiffany Newton and husband Cole Newton; son, Kevin Martinez; and granddaughter, Éowyn Newton all of Durant; father, Jorge Martinez and mother, Flora Serrato of Bogota, Colombia; siblings, Ricardo Martinez of Oklahoma City, Okla., Oscar Martinez and Pilar Martinez of Bogota, Colombia.
Mr. Martinez was preceded in death by his daughter, Nicole Martinez; and brothers, Alexander and Jorge A. Martinez.
Enrique was an entrepreneur his whole life, but during his last days, he loved working for Southeastern Oklahoma State University. He loved hosting people in his home, playing guitar, leading worship, and spending time with friends and family. He loved his church community at Western Meadows and his family very much. He was thankful for ability to receive love and say goodbye to friends and family in his last weeks.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Aug. 18 at the Western Meadows Baptist Church in Durant, with Pastor Cole Newton officiating.
