Norman Floyd Akers

Norman F. Akers was born on November 27, 1937 in Alpaugh, California to Daniel and Edith Akers. Norman passed from this life on July 11, 2018 in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 80.

Norman lived in California, Texas, and Oklahoma through his years working as a business owner and manager of various warehouses and companies. Norman married his wife Jeannette on August 30, 1958 and remained
married 51 years until her passing in 2010. Norman was a follower of Jesus Christ and enjoyed spending his time fishing, watching sports, tinkering with anything with a motor, playing cribbage, and playing jokes on anyone he could. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with those who mattered most to him, his loving family.

Norman is preceded in death by his loving wife Jeannette, his parents Daniel and Edith, his brothers James and Billy, and his sisters Ruth and Pee-Wee.

Norman is survived by his son, Jimmy (James) Akers and his wife Tammy of Idabel, daughters, Edith Hegwood of Durant, and Loretta Jenkins and her husband David of Forney, TX, his 9 grandchildren; Jonathan Hegwood,
Rebecca Baqaeen, Joshua Jenkins, Nathan Akers, James David Jenkins, Jessica Miller, Justin Akers, Josh Woods, Garret Neese, and their spouses, 10 great grandchildren, brothers Harold and Eddie of California, as well as his sister Bobby of California.

A memorial service of Norman’s life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, July 14, 2018 from 6-8 p.m.
