Bryan County became acquainted with the Corner Crust when it was located on a Downtown Durant corner. The restaurant still has the same name, although the new location isn’t in downtown or on a corner.
But for the Corner Crust, it is half a year into operations at a new site and able to better meet the needs of its customers.
“We were downtown for two years,” owner Cory Walker said. “We had just become big enough that we ran out of room.
“And we do several events for people – you know, Truck Night, Biker Night – so we needed the space for people to come out. And it’s been a good move so far.”
From the middle of downtown in Durant to its new location at 9125 U.S. Highway 70 near Silo Road, the surrounding may look a little different, but the menu is familiar with many varieties of pizza and more.
“We still have a gluten-free and vegan option for pizza,” Walker said. “The menu is still the same. We still have wings, subs and salads. Most of the pizzas are still there. We might have changed a few of them. But you can always make requests.
“We’re not doing the make it as you go here. You order it and we make it in the back. But you can still build your own pizza or sandwich or salad – whatever you want to do.
“And we do have several desserts and some new desserts on there, as well.”
Biker Night is a big draw on Thursdays and the décor on the inside reflects that.
“I’ve been riding my whole life and I did some racing when I was younger,” Walker said. “I did some road racing and some motocross racing. Basically, when we moved to this spot, we had some room and we needed some decoration and I thought, ‘Let’s make it a motorcycle stop.’ We’re on the highway, so bikes can come by and stop.
“And I thought about the kids that are riding the bikes now. Us older guys can give them some help and answer some questions and kind of point them in the right direction to keep them safe. And that was the main objective.
“Plus, there was the fact that I had all this stuff and my wife was like, “Let’s get it out of the house and the garage. Let’s put it somewhere.” So this was the spot. I have my old race bike here and the kids can come and sit on it and take pictures.”
Walker also spoke about how much he appreciates the motorcycle community and said that the restaurant was planning to have events in the fall that are bike-themed and car-themed and movie nights and family nights, too.
“It will be a great little place to stop. And if you don’t eat, just come out and check out everything.”
Thursdays are still Biker Nights and those who ride in get 20 percent off their food on that night.
